2011 Data Virtualization Award Winners
Executives from BP America, NYSE EuroNext, Putnam Investments and Qualcomm were recognized for their data virtualization implementations and pioneering contributions at the second annual Composite Software Data Virtualization Day which was held October 13.
Data Virtualization Day at a Glance
The world’s largest gathering of data virtualization experts and implementers, Data Virtualization Day drew nearly 200 attendees toNew York Citywhere they heard case studies from executives at Bank of America, Putnam Investments and Qualcomm Incorporated.
Each year at Data Virtualization Day, Composite Software customers and executives identify and commend individuals whose exemplary work advances data virtualization in their companies, in particular, and in the enterprise IT market overall.
Data Virtualization Champion Award
Stuart Bonnington, Head of Information Architecture, Upstream Information Technology & Services, BP America Inc., received the “Data Virtualization Champion Award” for consistently achieving and promoting data virtualization education and value across his organization, other Composite Software customers and in the broader data integration space. He led the implementation of a high-performance data virtualization layer with the Composite Data Virtualization Platform that integrates over 40 data sources to support the analysis, reporting and decision-making needs across BP America’s upstream business units.
Data Virtualization High Impact Award
Emile Werr, Vice President, Global Data Services, NYSE Euronext, was given the “Virtualization High Impact Award” for the work his team has done in redefining how a stock exchange does business. NYSE Euronext, comprised of six equity exchanges and eight derivatives exchanges located in theU.S.andEurope, is implementing an enterprise-wide data virtualization layer using the Composite Data Virtualization Platform that provides consistent, on-demand access to a range of trades, orders, receipts, quotes, cancels and admins data globally for analysis and reporting.
Innovative Data Virtualization Solutions Award
Arvinder Oberoi, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing Technology with Putnam Investments, was given the “Innovative Solutions Award” for his role in applying data virtualization technology in demanding environments with complex data sources. Putnam used the Composite Data Virtualization Platform to build a marketing campaign analysis and 360 degree view of customer solutions that federate cloud-based data with internal systems of record intraday such that all sources appear local and relational.
Data Virtualization Agility Award
Mark Morgan, Qualcomm Incorporated Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture Solutions, was recognized with the “Virtualization Agility Award” for helping the next-generation mobile technologies provider achieve business agility through data virtualization to manage production quality, vendor management and globalization. In less than two years, Qualcomm has implemented 24 data virtualization projects (applications) and 19 common data access services that encompass over 160 different service operations using the Composite Data Virtualization Platform.
